We Want to Help You Get a Valid Driver’s License

As you probably realize, a revoked or suspended license in North Carolina is a big deal.

Driving while license revoked or “DWLR,” is a separate criminal offense in North Carolina. It’s ordinarily considered a misdemeanor criminal charge. A lot depends on the reason for the revocation or suspension.

Driving while license revoked because of a “drunk driving” charge or DWLR Imp Rev can send you to jail. It’s a Class 1 misdemeanor criminal offense that carries up to 120 days in jail and/or the possibility of Supervised Probation.

Driving while license revoked involving a fatality (death of another) can be a very serious felony criminal allegation in North Carolina, especially when relating to DWI - Driving While Impaired.

To be clear, driving in NC while your license is revoked makes a bad situation worse.

Don't do it. Don’t drive while revoked or suspended.

"If you’re suspended, we think it’s a really good idea to talk to a lawyer. It can be a complicated dealing with NCDMV and the court system."

- David Courie, Criminal Lawyer

DWLR in North Carolina may subjecting you to another ticket, possible arrest in the right circumstances, and court appearances in Fayetteville.

NCDMV also can take administrative action for moving violations that occur during a period of revocation or suspension.

What happens if you get a ticket when you’re revoked? If convicted, DMV may very well add more time to the suspension or revocation.

Again, it tends to be complicated area of law.

Having a lawyer by your side in court and/or a DMV restoration hearing or NCDMV revocation hearing, helping guide you through the process, is smart.

That may also include pulling a copy of your driver’s license, rolling up our sleeves, and determining why in fact your license is revoked or suspended.

NOTE: REPRESENTATIVES AT NCDMV OCCASIONALLY ADVISE PEOPLE THAT UNTIL OUTSTANDING TICKETS AND FAILURES TO APPEAR ARE RESOLVED (HANDLED), THE LICENSE WILL REMAIN SUSPENDED. WHILE TECHNICALLY ACCURATE, SIMPLY PAYING OFF OLD TICKETS CAN RESULT IN ADDITIONAL PERIODS OF REVOCATION OR SUSPENSION. DO NOT PAY OUTSTANDING TICKETS WITHOUT FIRST C0NSULTING WITH AN EXPERIENCED TRAFFIC LAWYER.
